Techinomics to Supply American Electric Power Gavin Plant with Rotating Throats

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWeb) December 10, 2006 -- D. Gary Madden, Chief Operating Officer for Techinomics Inc, announced that Techinomics has reached an agreement with American Electric Power. Techinomics, the Pittsburgh based producer of rotating throats-vane wheels for pulverizers used in coal-fired electric utility plants, is now the exclusive supplier for pulverizer throats for the General James M. Gavin Plant. American Electric Power has operations in 11 states, and its Gavin Plant is one of the two largest plants in the American Electric Power System and a cornerstone of its fleet of coal-fired plants.

The Gavin Plant, based in AEP's Ohio Power Company Division (OPCo), which serves more than 700,000 customers, is capable of 2600 megawatts of production and represents almost 30 percent of the total American Electric Power OPCo capacity.

Patented both in North America and internationally, Techinomics' rotating throats represent state of the art technology in grinding coal to the finest (smallest) size, removing impurities that cause wear and boiler slagging and contributing to environmental efficiency and wear reduction throughout the entire pulverizer-classifier-boiler system. This wear reduction is the basis of Techinomics' 15-year wear-breakage limited warranty, the only such warranty offered in the industry.

Installation of the Techinomics Rotating Throat-Ledge Covers began this fall at Gavin and will continue until all Gavin pulverizers operate with the Techinomics Rotating Throat-Ledge Cover System.
